Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to a collection of the most frequent questions that were asked previously. If you are still confused or have additional questions, please visit the contact us page and we would be more than happy to answer all your inquiries or concerns.

-How can I join SPE?

Please visit our Join SPE page for more information on how to join the local chapter at Texas A&M University at Qatar if you are a fellow aggie, or on how to join SPE international to gain access into a vast community of professional engineers affiliated with the petroleum industry, exclusive SPE member-only conferences, drilling digest daily newsletters and more. You can pay online by credit card in USD.

-Am I able to join SPE TAMUQ even if I am not an officer or a PETE student?

Absolutely. The SPE local chapter offers students from all majors the opportunity to get involved in the organization through both the Event and Publications Committees. Those will allow students to participate in organizing events, contribute to newsletters and assume responsibility of various publications and technology resources.

-How can I join one of the committees at SPE?

Keep a lookout for the emails sent by the officers at the local chapter. Vacancies for committee positions will depend on the type of events taking place and tasks available. The most qualified applicants will be chosen.

-Does SPE offer corporate membership?

Corporate membership is not available. SPE offers individual membership only.

-If I can’t remember my SPE membership number, how do I get it back?

Upon registration for SPE International, the membership number should have been emailed to you. Check your inbox to try to locate that number. You can also find your SPE membership number by logging into your profile section of SPE at http://www.spe.org/ams/Custom/CustomerProfile.aspx

-I used to be an SPE student member. How can I become a professional one?

You need to change your status from student to professional member at http://www.spe.org/students/graduating/
